Since I was in second grade, I knew I wanted to have a position in the world. My teacher asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I answered with a dream to be first an architect, then President of the United States. Later, other jobs soon piqued my interest: interior designer, real estate agent, lawyer, model, and actress. I still do not understand how the two latter forced their way onto the list.
I told my mom, randomly, that I wanted to be an actress. She told me to find an agent or a school. For the next few months, we went around San Bernardino with a list in hand searching for a company that did not seem crazy. We found John Casablancas and decided to join. Initially, I wanted to be only an actress, models were too dumb and stereotypical. Even if I was not a stereotypical model, people would think of me as a tall, ditzy, anorexic girl. Industry profesionals persuaded me to try out modeling anyway.
Now, years later, I love modeling and I think it is a great way to express personality. I learned many different aspects of a model's life. I wrote reports on many different designers, houses, and models. I was taught etiquette and how to present one’s self. Exercise and nutrition always seemed to be a topic of discussion every few months. Runway had a wide range of differences, some had us walk the same way every time, and others wanted the students to explore their own walk.
I did not have much experience in acting, but I found an agent, and soon dropped them for their inability to realize that I lived two hours away from Los Angeles. Now 13 years old and 5’8”, I have a modeling agent that does not ask too much of me, time- wise or money- wise, and I still did not forget my other dreams. To build up a college resume, I am taking the most advanced classes offered at my school for freshmen, I am participating in Mock Trial, currently an arson trial, I have had eight years of piano lessons, two years of advanced drama, four years in dance, and one year on yearbook committee, student council, ASB, the school newspaper, photography club, and am trying to join Ambassadors Club. My ending result, I hope, will be a scholarship to a UC System college to study business, and then go to either Oxford or Harvard for law. With this, hopefully, I can start my own law firm and gain connections to, possibly, become president like my old dream. If not, then I will enjoy life to the full extent and travel the world more thoroughly than I am now. Mongolia now holds my next interest.
